The classes today October 18, 2010 has been canceled already in all affected areas due to typhoon "Juan". How about on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, will DepEd also did the same decision? No Classes at all levels were raised yesterday to Region 1, 2 and CAR (Cordillera Autonomous Region), the most affected areas.
"The cancellation of classes were based on the rules and regulations of the Department of Education," Alberto Muyot, undersecretary of the DepEd.
As to the rules in suspending classes, Signal number 1 is automatic for pre-school and elementary. Signal Number 2 for secondary or high-school class and Signal Number 3, cancellation of classes at all levels. The discretion of the school officials can be also be a basis for declaring "No Classes".
