Total Lunar Eclipse June 16, 2011 Visible in the Philippines (Moon Photos) June 15, 2011 in United States

Filipinos witnessed the red moon in total lunar eclipse this June 16, 2011  (June 15, 2011 in other countries) as it was clearly visible in the skies of the Philippines. According to PAG-ASA, the "red moon" approximately lasted for about 6 hours, the longest in 11 years. Based from Filipinos who witnessed the once in a blue moon event, it started at about 1:45 am and ended at about 7:00 am in the morning.

Total lunar eclipse happened when the earth is in between the sun and moon. The earth casts its shadows on the moon making it red.

Aside from the Philippines, the lunar eclipse has been viewed in Europe, Africa and Australia.

On December 10, 2011, experts said that the next lunar eclipse will happen.
