February 25, 2011 is holiday - EDSA Revolution Anniversary

In accordance with the 84th Proclamation of the Malacanang Palace, February 25, 2011 was declared as a holiday for all schools. This is in consonance with the celebration of the 1986 EDSA Revolution Anniversary. The proclamation signed by President Benigno Aquino specifically stated that it was included in the list of holidays to remember the restoration of social, economic and political reforms in the country.

The EDSA holiday was only for public and private schools. As reported, employees from different private and local establishments are exempted on this special holiday.

The holiday will be celebrated to commemorate the 1986 people power revolution which marked the Philippine freedom from authoritative leadership of Ferdinand Marcos. The day when the Efifanio delos Santos Avenue was filled with approximately two million civilians from different sectors and united as one to regain the democracy that Filipinos are enjoying today.
