SUVs, Pajeros and Vehicles of CBCP's Bishops Photos from PCSO - Netizens Reactions

After Butuan Bishop Juan de Dios Pueblos of CBCP admitted that he received funds of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) from the Arroyo administration to buy a Mitsubishi Montero 2008, netizens can't help but react on the issue.

As of 6 PM dated July 13, 2011, the words SUV and Pajeros are trending in Twitter. Here are some of their reactions:

As quoted from raissa_puno or Raissa Puno-Diaz,
"Poor bishops...they were able to prove that the SUVs were really just used as utility vehicles...second-hand...not luxury cars."

From antipinoy in Twitter,
"Bishops tell Arroyo to explain SUVs - cmon your holiness... thou shall not lie ... pinoy pharisees... :)))"

ihateposh account in Twitter said,
"There were no Pajeros. It was a Montero and other models more expensive than a Pajero. Hello? Choosy ang mga bishops noh."

From ANCALERTS or ABS-CBN News Channel,
"PCSO chair Juico: We never said the bishops were given Pajeros. That term "Pajero bishops" did not come from us."

Six other bishops are accused of receiving cars from PCSO funds. These include:

  • Bontoc-Lagawe Bishop Rodolfo Beltran (Nissan Pathfinder)
  • Abra Bishop Leopoldo Jaucian (Mitsubishi Strada)
  • Cotabato Archbishop  Orlando Quevedo (Toyota Grandia Hi-Ace)
  • Basilan Bishop Martin Jumoad (Mitsubishi Strada
  • Zamboanga Archbishop Romulo Valles (Toyota Grandia Hi-Ace)
  • Nueva Segovia Archbishop Ernesto Salgado (Isuzu Crosswind)
Meanwhile, the controversial vehicles given to bishops using PCSO funds have been returned. In the investigation of the Senate's Blue Ribbon Committee, one of the accused, Orlando Quevedo said:

"We have a deeper and higher motive in mind in returning the vehicles. In the bishops' conference, the word prophetic was used if we return. We religious leaders understand that word prophetic. That's the reason why we return. Thank you for listening to us. We hope we helped you discover the truth and aid in your legislation"
