Flash in iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch backed using Skyfire 2.0 Web Browser Application

After long time of waiting for Flash in iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, Skyfire 2.0, an application that enables iPhones and iPads users to view flash videos was approved by Apple App Store for distribution. CNN Technology News reported that Skyfire 2.0 was the first application approved by Apple Company to do such feature.

Apparently, Skyfire 2.0 came up to an innovative solution in order to follow the restrictions of above-mentioned Apple products. Flash video will be played after the user encountered or clicked a page with flash videos, this will then be converted to HTML5 which is standard in iOS. After convertion, a small thumbnail will appear giving an option to the user to view the flash video. Skyfire 2.0 for iOS works on top of Apple’s Safari web browser. Aside from this major feature, Skyfire company also showed other features such as exploring the related content on the page you are browsing, social sharing with Facebook and Twitter, private browsing, user agent switching and multi-tab browsing of up to 8 pages are also capable through this application.

In May 2008, Skyfire was also debuted to Nokia and Windows Mobile and surpassed the overall 3 million downloads. The first released was criticized for its slowness and privacy concerns but in the 2.0 version of Skyfire, the errors has been fixed.

The video below posted in Skyfire official website shows its demo features for iPhone.

After 5 hours of successful release, Skyfire 2.0 was declared by Skyfire company as “Sold Out”. In the statements by Oberhofer written in Skyfire website, he said:

Skyfire for iPhone has been received with unbelievable enthusiasm. Despite our best attempts and predictions, the demand far exceeds our initial projections.
The user experience was performing well for the first few hours, but as the surge continued, the peak load on our servers and bandwidth caused the video experience to degrade.
Thus we are effectively ‘sold out’ and will temporarily not accept new purchases from the App Store. We are working really hard to increase capacity and will be accepting new purchases from the App Store as soon as we can support it.
We are very grateful for the demand. Within 5 hours, Skyfire for iPhone became the top grossing app, the third highest paid app overall and the top application in the Utilities category. Wow!
Please bear with us as we bring our capacity in line with the incredible demand – stay tuned.

China Supercomputer is the fastest in the World - Tianhe-1A

This 2010, China has dethroned United states for having the fastest supercomputer in the World.

This is called Tianhe-1A, a new supercomputer that set performance record of about 2.509 petaflops (quatrillion calculations per second). This is the fastest as of today according to NVIDIA. Tianhe-1A was designed by the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) in China. The system is housed at National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin and is already fully operational.

News confirmed that Tianhe-1A, the fastest supercomputer is faster than the previously recorded fastest supercomputer, Cray XT5-HE Jaquar at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, which can deliver 1.76 petaflops of sustained performance.

As to its specifications, NVIDIA described this Chinese Supercomputer has a modern heterogeneous computing by coupling massively parallel GPUs with multi-core CPUs, enabling significant achievements in performance, size and power. The system uses 7,168 NVIDIA® Tesla™ M2050 GPUs and 14,336 CPUs; it would require more than 50,000 CPUs and twice as much floor space to deliver the same performance using CPUs alone.

Siemens 1924 Hearing Aid Pictures

Siemens already have its innovations in Hearing Aids. But when it started? Hearing Aids of Siemens actually started on their 1924 version of the Product. This 1924 product is described by Siemens as a compact, pocket sized carbon microphone/amplifier device suitable for pocket instruments.

The later product of Siemens brought about several handy developments in hearing aid technology and became a based on many of Hearing Aid manufacturers.

As described by Siemens, The electrical energy controlled by the carbon microphone was not fed to the receiver directly. It first drove the diaphragm of an electromagnetic system connected to a carbon-granule chamber. Current was transmitted across this chamber from the vibrating diaphragm electrode to the fixed electrode plate. The amplified current produced mechanical vibrations in the electromagnetic hearing diaphragm that were then transmitted to the ear as sound.

Globe Wimax Plan 795 Review | Globe Wimax Plan 795 Package is not 795 - its 900

Customer is always right, a lose adage which is very applicable with my experience with Globe Broadband (Wimax Plan 795). When they advertised and talked about this Globe Wimax Plan 795, I am so amazed that each of my questions were answered as to what I am expecting them. My first question: Since this is Globe Wimax Plan 795 - a "wireless technology", should it be freely possible if I carry it from one place to another (e.g, Batangas to Mindoro) provided that I have all the paraphernalia? (antenna, main globe wimax device). They confidently answer me "Yes", so I am happy. Next thing, 795 is per month right? How come it is so cheap considering that 512kpbs is a little bit fast by theory. Nice strategy! "Nakakaengganyo" is local term. But when they came to my house and installed this Globe Wimax Package, I observed that the connection speed is sometimes ranging to only 230- 300 kbps, based on Speedtest.net. When the bill delivered to my house, I am shocked because my payment was Php 1,346.28. How sad, cause I am only expecting 795 this month. They lacked information during their advertising that there is a VAT equivalent to Php 144.28. So you will not pay 795, but will pay 1,346.28, why? Because they added another "ontime charges" cost 446.43.

Globe Wimax Plan 795 Plan Review

With my experience, I called 211 (a customer service hotline of Globe) and verify my concerns. The customer representative said that Globe Wimax is transferrable, but you will pay 552.00 each time you transfer. (not free! contrary to what they said when they are advertising the product) I also asked for the possibility of cutting the plan, It is also possible but you will pay two months bill f you are not yet finished with the 1-year contract.

In short, they love their "Information-lacking" advertising, because if you are part of the contract, and you subscribed, you cannot get out of it. You will pay!!

I come up to this review because this is my own sad experience with Globe Wimax Plan 795. What about you? Did you experienced this also?

China Phone Pros and Cons

Filipinos are fan of affordable products. Be it dress, food, school, accessories and even cell phones. Way back then, China phones are not yet reaching the affordability pockets of Pinoys. But as it reaches our portals, China Phones were suddenly adored by ordinary Philippine consumers. China phones were made in China but unlike original phones, they are far more affordable since they are just imitations of phones developed by popular phone companies. You can immediately recognize this kind of Phone because of its font, they are all identical regardless of model. You can also identify this phone by the icons attached at the bottom part of the phone. But what can we expect from this phone? Is it really advisable to be bought? Or you are just wasting your money?

Below are the Pros and Cons of China Phones based on my observations:

Pros

  1. It is very cheap compared to original phones. You can buy an iphone imitation from 1000 – 5000 pesos only.
  2. It has many features which cannot be found in the original. Specifically, China Phones have FM radio station, voice recording, camera, video recording, mp3, large storage capacity and even television.
  3. It has made to support all Cellphone Networks such as Smart, Globe, Touch Mobile and the like.
  4. You are worry-free even you public use it. Why? It’s cheap.

Cons
  1. It just naturally last for 6 months compared to original cellphones which endure for years.
  2. This kind of phones is hard to repair since the components of the most important chips are condensed into one.
  3. This can be considered as disposable phones.
I am not saying that China phones aren’t good, I am just giving both sides of the coins. At the end of the day, it is still you who decides.
