A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Northern provinces in Luzon, Philippines dated August 11, 2011 at about 10:56 AM. According to United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake is located 118 km (73 miles) NNE of Laoag, Luzon; 167 km (103 miles) SSW of Basco, Batan Islands; 229 km (142 miles) NNW of Ilagan, Luzon and 499 km (310 miles) N of MANILA, Philippines.
According to analysis of Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PhilVocs), the earthquake was at magnitude 6. In their bulletin, they cited the epicenter at 23 km northwest of Calayan Island.
Meanwhile, no damages to lives or property have been reported yet.
